Lou Ferrigno

Biography

Lou Ferrigno is an American actor who also won bodybuilding titles, including an IFBB Mr. America and two IFBB Mr. Universe wins in a row. The 1977 documentary Pumping Iron made him famous. He then took the title part in the CBS show The Incredible Hulk, playing the role from 1977 to 1982, and he later voiced the character in animated and computer-generated versions. His screen credits also include fantasy adventures produced in Europe, among them Hercules (1983) and also Sinbad of the Seven Seas (1989). He portrayed himself on the sitcom The King of Queens and in the 2009 comedy I Love You, Man, and he had security-guard cameos in Hulk (2003) and The Incredible Hulk (2008), the latter of which also used his Hulk voice.

Ferrigno spent a short time with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League, playing defensive lineman. He had never played football before, and after two games he was cut.
