Biography

Sybil Danning is an Austrian actress and film producer who became a familiar face in B-movies of the 1970s and 1980s. Born in Wels, she grew up mainly in New Jersey and California, then went to Europe, where modeling led to acting. Her early screen work was in soft-core erotic films and sexploitation pictures, followed by Bluebeard (1972) with Richard Burton and Raquel Welch and the giallo The Red Queen Kills Seven Times (1972). She also made spaghetti westerns such as God's Gun (1976) and took the role of a Valkyrie warrior in Battle Beyond the Stars, a 1980 space opera. Among her later credits were the 1983 women-in-prison film Chained Heat, with Linda Blair, and a 1984 thriller, They're Playing with Fire. After announcing her retirement in 1986, she returned in 2007 in Jump!, later playing a vengeful vampire on the television series The Lair and taking a part in Virus X (2010).
