Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- After Bruno Mattei's footage was judged unsatisfactory in dailies, Cannon had Luigi Cozzi shoot two weeks of reshoots to improve the film, but Golan changed his mind and left Mattei's version virtually untouched, using the extra footage instead as the basis for a second Hercules film, The Adventures of Hercules (1985).
- Sybil Danning, who learned swordfighting for the film, accused Ferrigno of hogging the screen and of having her showcase drinking contest with a tavern's male patrons shot in her absence; the tension supposedly led to her role in Hercules also being altered for the worse.
- Fragasso complained that budget cuts by Cannon honchos Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus pared the number of extras down to unflattering levels; Mattei cited the film's cost at ITL3 billion (about US$2.2 million) while Hacohen quoted ITL2 billion, or less than $1.5 million.
