Plot summary
Stan Lee's name is on more than a billion comics, published in 75 countries and 25 languages, and he co-created over 500 characters, among them Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, Iron Man, Thor and the Hulk. The documentary traces the life behind those pages, from his Depression-era upbringing and his early years at Timely Comics to the 1950s campaign to censor comic books, led by Dr. Fredric Wertham. It covers the emergence of Marvel Comics, where those characters took shape, and it draws on transcripts, illustrations and photographs. The account reaches his current company, POW! Entertainment, where he continues to create new material.
