Biography
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is an American actor best known for his portrayal of Negan in AMC's The Walking Dead and its spin-off, The Walking Dead: Dead City. Born in Seattle and raised in Kirkland, Washington, he built a career largely in television. He played John Winchester on Supernatural, Denny Duquette on Grey's Anatomy, and Jason Crouse on The Good Wife. On film, he portrayed the Comedian in Watchmen (2009), Clay in The Losers (2010), and Agent Harvey Russell in Rampage (2018), and he appeared in P.S. I Love You (2007) and Red Dawn (2012). He also had roles in Texas Rising and Magic City, and later joined The Boys as Joe Kessler. His work as Negan has earned critical acclaim, and he hosted the reality show Destination X.

First role
Morgan's first acting roles came while he was living in Seattle selling paintings, in Uncaged and To Cross the Rubicon, the latter alongside his roommate, actor Billy Burke.
A role that slipped away
In 2007, Morgan was cast in a Shonda Rhimes project tentatively titled Correspondents, but ABC instead picked up the Grey's Anatomy spin-off Private Practice and the project was shelved.
Beyond film
Jeffrey Dean Morgan voiced the character Negan in the fighting game Tekken 7 when Negan was added as downloadable content.
A change of course
Morgan drove the pace car at the 101st Indianapolis 500 on May 28, 2017. The vehicle he drove to lead the starting field was a 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport.
