Plot summary
Leah, a student about to start her second year of college, moves into an apartment in Ridgewood, Queens, with her friend Katie. She runs out of marijuana one evening and asks the young men who hang around her corner to sell her some; they refuse. Days later she meets Blue at a convenience store and brings him up to her apartment; he deals drugs, he says, but stays away from the hard kind, and the two sleep together on the roof. Leah interns at a magazine and tells Blue he could be getting sixty dollars rather than the twenty he has been charging. She brings him to a magazine party, where he marks his prices up for the crowd. Encouraged, Blue asks his supplier Lloyd for a kilo of cocaine.
