Plot summary
After Jeff Mills and his colleague Derek Clayton rescue Miranda Reed from an abusive boyfriend, the boyfriend threatens Jeff but leaves. Miranda has no home, so Jeff lets her stay with him. They become romantically involved, and strange events follow. At a party for his coworkers, Miranda charms everyone except Grace Woods, Jeff's secretary, who notices Miranda calling the winter solstice a holy night and lifting a turkey from the oven with bare hands. Grace warns Jeff that Miranda is trouble. After Mrs. White confronts Jeff and asks him to return Miranda to them, Miranda disappears. Lieutenant Lee tells Jeff that her necklace bears a satanic cult's sign and that the cult is suspected in local murders and disappearances.
