Plot summary
After saving Bird Island's eggs, Red is its celebrated hero, and he keeps up a prank war against Leonard's pigs on Piggy Island. When a giant ice ball from far-off Eagle Island lands near Piggy Island, Leonard proposes an alliance. Zeta, who rules Eagle Island from a volcano, is tired of her frozen home and plans to take over both islands with lava-filled ice balls fired from a superweapon. Leonard visits Red, and together they assemble a team: Chuck, Bomb, Chuck's sister Silver, Leonard's assistant Courtney, and the retired hero Mighty Eagle. Red, hoping peace will not cost him his fame, insists the birds need not evacuate while the group travels to Eagle Island by submarine.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about The Angry Birds Movie 2 (2019)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Animating Zeta was the hardest job in The Angry Birds Movie 2: she has over 1,000 controls, a complex face and a tall, flexible torso, and the team struggled to build more realistic feathers. Some animators were busy finishing Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Sony moved the release date up by more than half a month, losing time.
- The filmmakers broke from the games by having the birds and pigs end their feud and ally against a bigger threat, wanting to surprise audiences. Josh Gad said the team also felt an alliance story suited an increasingly polarized political climate where people who disagree struggle to find common ground.
- The Angry Birds Movie 2 was the last Sony Pictures Animation film to get an exclusive United States theatrical release until Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in June 2023, because several of the studio's films in between went to streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
- Awkwafina voiced Courtney, announced by producer John Cohen as the first named female pig in the Angry Birds franchise, after the character briefly appeared in the teaser trailer.
