Plot summary
Marianne, heir to the Fairy Kingdom, calls off her wedding when she finds Roland kissing another fairy, and she decides she will never fall for anyone again. In the Dark Forest, the Bog King holds the same low opinion of love, and his mother Griselda argues with him about it. Marianne's younger sister Dawn frets over which boy she might meet at the Spring Ball, while the elf Sunny, who loves Dawn in silence, tries to cheer her up. Sunny slips through the border into the Dark Forest, marked by primrose flowers, and comes back with one of the petals. Roland still hopes to win Marianne back, so he talks Sunny into going after a love potion, and Sunny sets out for the lair where the Bog King keeps the Sugar Plum Fairy caged.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Strange Magic (2015)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- George Lucas had wanted to make a film for his three daughters and had this idea 15 years before production began. He described Strange Magic as Star Wars for a female audience, saying "Star Wars was for 12-year-old boys; I figured I'd make one for 12-year-old girls."
- Strange Magic had the lowest ticket sales of any animated film released in over 3,000 theaters; the previous lows were The Wild Thornberrys Movie (2002) and Quest for Camelot (1998).
- Songs in the film were reworked to help tell the story: "Bad Romance" became a march for an invading army, and "I'll Never Fall in Love Again" became a warrior anthem for the fairy princess Marianne.
- George Lucas said he originally had a lot of Beatles songs in Strange Magic, but the production could not afford them.
- Meredith Anne Bull, the voice of Dawn, said recordings involved mouth tricks and chewing, and she watched Peter Stormare chew an entire pack of gum while he tried to record.
