David Herman
Biography
David Herman is an American actor and comedian who began as one of the original cast members of MADtv, appearing on the sketch series from 1995 to 1997 and lampooning figures such as Woody Allen and Bill Clinton. Born in New York City and raised in Washington Heights, Manhattan, he attended the acting program at SUNY Purchase. He played Michael Bolton in Office Space (1999), a role Mike Judge wrote with him in mind, and later appeared in Idiocracy (2006), Dude, Where's My Car? (2000), Fun with Dick and Jane (2005), and Lost Angels (1989). Alongside guest spots on Angel and 24, he became known for voice work, providing characters for Futurama and King of the Hill and voicing Mr. Frond on Bob's Burgers.

A role that slipped away
In 2019 Herman said he wanted to leave the show for other projects, but Fox would not release him from his contract because they thought he was too valuable, so he screamed all his lines at a read-through until he was fired.
Big break
Herman was cast as Michael Bolton in Office Space because King of the Hill creator Mike Judge wrote the script with Herman in mind for that part, and Herman found the script while doing voice work on King of the Hill.
