Trailer

Plot summary

Charlie Brown is clumsy and awkward, and his classmates, Lucy Van Pelt above all, treat him as a failure; his dog Snoopy and Linus, Lucy's younger brother, are the ones who stand by him. When a new girl with red hair joins his class, he gives her the nickname Little Red-Haired Girl and sees her arrival as his chance to start over. He sets out to remake himself so that she will notice him. That same day Linus brings a model triplane of the Red Baron to school for show and tell, and Charlie Brown sets it off in flight when he touches the propeller. Snoopy is writing a novel in which his World War I Flying Ace, helped by his bird friend Woodstock, sets out to rescue Fifi, his girlfriend, from the Red Baron.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about The Peanuts Movie (2015)

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.

  • In 2006, six years after the last original Peanuts strip and the death of creator Charles M. Schulz, his son Craig came up with an idea for a new Peanuts film and showed it to his own son, the screenwriter Bryan Schulz.
  • Rather than the usual traditions of computer animation, the characters are animated on 2s, more akin to a stop-motion film, the makers believing that the low framerate stylization better fitted the style of Charles Schulz.
  • Kristin Chenoweth created "a series of conversational-like sounds" for Fifi, Snoopy's love interest, using Melendez's Snoopy recordings as a guide. She had starred as Sally in a 1999 Broadway version of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, earning a Drama Desk Award and a Tony.
  • Snoopy and Woodstock speak in the voice of Bill Melendez, taken from archival recordings rather than newly performed for the film.
  • Classic locations feature, such as Charlie Brown's skating pond, "the wall" and Lucy's psychiatrist booth, each retaining the eternal look of the strip, and despite being outdated technology, rotary phones and typewriters are seen, with the booth still costing a nickel.
  • Chris Wedge voices Scrat in the Blue Sky Studios logo sequence only, and goes uncredited for it, unlike the Ice Age films where Wedge is credited.
