Biography

Thierry Lhermitte is a French actor, screenwriter, and producer who began as a founding member of the comedy troupe Le Splendid. Born in Paris, he made his film debut in Bertrand Blier's Going Places (1974) and had a supporting role in Bertrand Tavernier's Let Joy Reign Supreme (1975). He co-wrote and acted in Leconte's French Fried Vacation (1978), a farce about French tourists in Africa that became hugely popular and inspired a sequel and a cult following. He went on to star in comedies such as Les Hommes Preferent les Grosses (1981), L'Année Prochaine...Si Tout Va Bien (1981), and La Femme De Mon Pote (1983). In 1993 he appeared in Leconte's Tango, and he starred in Dead Tired (1994). One of his greatest successes came in 1998 with Francis Veber's The Dinner Game. He also wrote, produced, and starred in Un Indien dans la Ville and was associate producer on its American remake, Jungle 2 Jungle.
