Plot summary
François Voisin leads two lives. His family knows him as a telecommunications employee, while away from them he works as a secret agent, counted among the service's best and known by the name l'Épée. His wife Hélène has grown tired of their routine. On his fortieth birthday he comes home to a surprise party she arranged with friends from his fencing days, but Albert, a colleague, calls him away to hide a microphone inside an arms smuggler's car, which he manages after a struggle. His friends greet his return by mocking his dull life. The microphone leads the service to a prostitute, and Hélène, in the meantime, meets Simon, who presents himself as a spy.
