Plot summary
Everyone stops working, and the market economy and high productivity are abandoned. Once the halt is total, the population agrees to restore, unwillingly, only what it cannot manage without: drinking water, electricity so that people can read at night, and the radio, which reports that the world has not ended and that the new era is Year 01. That era brings ecology, the rejection of authority, free love, communal living, and the end of private property and of labor. In the crowd are an office manager, a banknote collector, a jewelry lover, conspirators, debate viewers, and a woman who wakes at six o'clock.
