Plot summary
Bull Webster earns his living at the wheel of a taxi, and the co-operative he drives for is in trouble: the Spider Corporation, a large financial holding company, has decided to buy the co-operative out, force it into bankruptcy and take its land cheaply. The situation brings Bull close to desperation. Then he finds a lottery ticket in his pocket, and it is the winning ticket for the biggest prize ever offered, $150 million. That kind of money would let him counter the corporation's plan. At that point Heaven and Hell take an interest in his future, and each sends an emissary: an Angel to convince him to do good and a Devil to tempt him toward evil.
