Biography

Steve Austin is an American actor, media personality and retired professional wrestler. Born in Austin, Texas, he played football in college and entered wrestling in 1989, joining World Championship Wrestling in 1991, where he won the WCW World Television and United States Heavyweight Championships twice apiece and tag team gold with Brian Pillman. A brief ECW spell preceded his 1995 WWF signing, where his Ringmaster gimmick gave way to the anti-establishment Stone Cold persona. His 1996 King of the Ring win and the Austin 3:16 promo made him the Attitude Era's most popular wrestler, with a feud against Vince McMahon at its core. He claimed the WWF Championship six times, won a record three Royal Rumbles in 1997, 1998 and 2001, and retired from the ring in 2003. Later came the podcasts The Steve Austin Show and Broken Skull Sessions and the reality shows Steve Austin's Broken Skull Challenge and Straight Up Steve Austin.
