Mick Foley
Biography
Mick Foley is an American retired professional wrestler, author, and comedian. Born in Bloomington, Indiana, he trained at Dominic DeNucci's wrestling school and debuted in 1986 as Cactus Jack. He worked for the WWF, WCW, ECW, TNA, and promotions in Japan. In WCW and ECW, Cactus Jack was a bloodthirsty brawler known for violent matches with barbed wire and thumbtacks. When Foley joined the WWF in 1996, he debuted the masked Mankind; in 1997 he introduced Dude Love, a tie-dyed hippie. Together these were the Three Faces of Foley, and he entered the 1998 Royal Rumble three times under different personas. He headlined the 16th WrestleMania and became one of the WWF's biggest stars of the Attitude Era. His championships included the WWF Championship and WWF Hardcore Championship. A Hell in a Cell match with The Undertaker is widely regarded as the greatest of its kind. He entered the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013.

About the name
Foley came up with the name Mankind himself after WWF officials proposed calling his new masked character Mason the Mutilator, a name he disliked.
Getting ready for a role
Foley researched the character to prepare for playing Mankind, and during his first few months he often slept in the arena's boiler room and sometimes beneath the wrestling ring.
Big break
Mick Foley, as Mankind, spent several weeks chasing The Corporation before beating The Rock on December 29 in Worcester, Massachusetts, to capture his first WWF Championship.
