Mark Calaway

Biography

Mark Calaway is an American retired professional wrestler who, as The Undertaker, spent most of his career in WWE. He broke in during 1987 with World Class Championship Wrestling, had a brief WCW stint, and joined the WWF in 1990, where he adopted a macabre Deadman persona built on funerary theming. The persona won him the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Best Gimmick award five years running, and became WWE's longest-tenured wrestler at 30 years. He switched to a biker identity nicknamed American Badass in 2000 and revived the Deadman in 2004. His 21 straight WrestleMania wins, called The Streak, and five headline appearances shaped his later years, as did his feuds and teaming with his storyline half-brother Kane from 1997 to 2020. His titles included four runs as WWF/E Champion, three as World Heavyweight Champion, one Hardcore Championship and six World Tag Team Championships, plus a 2007 Royal Rumble win. He entered the WWE Hall of Fame in 2022.
