Biography

Ryan Gosling is a Canadian actor whose career ranges from independent films to major studio features. Born in London, Ontario, he started as a Mouseketeer on The All New Mickey Mouse Club and later played the title role in Young Hercules. He moved into film with Frankenstein and Me (1996) and a supporting part in Remember the Titans (2000), then earned praise for The Believer (2001) and became a leading man in The Notebook (2004). He drew further notice for Fracture and Lars and the Real Girl, both from 2007. His Academy Award nominations came for Half Nelson (2006), La La Land (2016), and Barbie (2023); he won a Golden Globe for La La Land. Other credits include Blue Valentine (2010), Drive (2011), The Big Short (2015), First Man (2018), and Blade Runner 2049 (2017). He directed Lost River in 2014.
