Plot summary
Barbieland is a matriarchal society shaped by human imagination. Many Barbies hold jobs in law, science, politics and media, while the Kens spend their days at the beach, treating it as their profession. Ken, known as Beach Ken, is happy only when he is with Barbie. At a dance party, Barbie is overtaken by thoughts of mortality; by next morning she has bad breath, cellulite and flat feet. Weird Barbie tells her to find the child who plays with her in the real world, so Barbie sets off, Ken hidden in her convertible. They reach Venice Beach, where the head of Mattel, alarmed by dolls loose in the real world, orders their recapture.
