Phillip Reed

Biography

Born in New York City in 1908, Phillip Reed was an American actor who competed in sports at Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn, spent a year in college, and then turned to acting, changing his name after he moved to Hollywood. Billed as Milton Leroy, he appeared in the Broadway plays Melody and Ballyhoo of 1932, and he was frequently billed as Philip Reed as well. He played Steve Wilson in four films from 1947 to 1948 drawn from the Big Town radio series. On CBS radio he played Russ Barrington in Society Girl, a soap opera, and Brian Wells in David Harum, another soap opera. His television work included a lead in Police Call, a 1955 anthology drama, and appearances in Alfred Hitchcock Presents episodes such as The Derelicts, A Bullet for Baldwin, Sylvia, and The Big Score. He also played King Toranshah in the 1965 Elvis Presley musical Harum Scarum. Reed died in 1996.
