Plot summary

Mike Lee, a gambler who plays straight, brings up his daughter Lady Lee to do the same. Heavy debts to the syndicate that controls the town's joints leave her to make her own living, and she takes work with the syndicate's head, Fallin, until he offers her a crooked dealer; she quits and plays on her own. She does well at cards among the wealthy. Charlie Lang, a bookie who has long admired her, proposes, but young Garry Madison wins her heart, even after he unknowingly leads two disguised policemen to the illegal den where she plays cards. She holds back from marrying him, afraid of what his society father Peter will think, though she already knows and likes the older man, himself a gambler.
