Plot summary
Perry Mason has handed the District Attorney another defeat in court and intends to take a vacation in China. Rhoda, an old flame of his, comes to him at a restaurant instead to ask his help. She has remarried, to Carl, whose father, C. Phillip Montaine, is a wealthy man, and she has learned that her first husband, Gregory Moxley, is alive. Moxley had been said to be dead for four years, and he is now demanding money from her because she has married into wealth. Mason goes to see Moxley but finds only a corpse. The police charge Rhoda with the murder.
