Plot summary
Jimmy Corrigan is an unpolished racketeer with a racket of his own. His office tracks down heirs of the dead who left no will, and he sometimes supplies phony claimants so that his fee gets paid. Joan Martin, his former sweetheart, has left him over his ethics. She has taken a post with Charles Wallingham, a competitor whose firm is described to her as legitimate. Jimmy wants Joan back, so he puts on ethics and tea-drinking manners.
