Phil Daniels
Biography
Phil Daniels is an English actor, musician and singer known for film and television roles that often center on London characters. Born in Islington in 1958, he trained at the Anna Scher Theatre School and made his film debut in Anoop and the Elephant in 1972. He played Jimmy Cooper in Quadrophenia (1979) and appeared in Breaking Glass (1980) and Scum, and he later took the role of Mark in Meantime (1983). In the late 1970s and early 1980s he was a member of the new wave band The Cross. He voiced Fetcher in Chicken Run (2000) and a major character in the English-language release of Free Jimmy (2006). His television work includes Kevin Wicks in EastEnders and Grandad Trotter in Rock & Chips, and he has performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company. He also narrated tracks for Blur, including Parklife.

Behind the camera
Daniels stars in the 2012 film Vinyl and also wrote and performs most of its music soundtrack. The film, directed by Sara Sugarman, draws on real events that The Alarm faced in the UK in 2004.
Beyond film
In 1979, The Cross, a new wave band that included Daniels and fellow actor Peter Hugo Daly, put out an album and a single on RCA Records.
