Mark Wingett
Biography
Mark Wingett is an English actor from Melton Mowbray who first joined the National Youth Theatre. He made his screen debut in 1979 as Dave, a rebellious mod, in Quadrophenia (1979). After a small part in Brookside in 1983, he appeared in Woodentop as Jim Carver, the pilot for The Bill, and was among four actors who returned for the series' first full season. He played Carver for roughly 780 episodes from 1984 to 2005, a 21-year run, and returned briefly in March 2007. In 2005 he joined EastEnders as Mike Swann and left in March 2006, and he played Terry Molloy in Heartbeat. He provides the voiceover for the British version of American Chopper, appeared as Lentulus Batiatus in Heroes and Villains, and acted in Missing as Danny Hayworth in 2009 and 2010. He also directed stage plays, including Good to Firm in 2010 and Lone Star in 2000, and issued a pamphlet on GG Allin in 2018.
