Lee Montague

Biography

Lee Montague was an English actor who usually played tough characters in film and television, and he trained at the Old Vic Theatre School. He was born in Bow, London. His film credits included The Camp on Blood Island (1958), Billy Budd (1962) and Deadlier than the Male (1967), along with Brother Sun, Sister Moon (1972), Mahler (1974) and The Legacy (1978). On television he appeared in series such as Danger Man, The Sweeney, Bergerac and Jekyll & Hyde (1990). On Broadway he played Gregory Hawke in The Climate of Eden in 1952 and Ed in Entertaining Mr. Sloane in 1965, and his London stage work included Who Saw Him Die in 1974. In 1965 he became the first storyteller on the BBC children's program Jackanory. He died in 2025.
