James Frain
Biography
James Frain is an English actor who was born in Leeds and grew up near Bishop's Stortford before studying film and drama at the University of East Anglia and training at London's Central School of Speech and Drama. Richard Attenborough spotted him while he was still at drama school, and he made his film debut in Shadowlands in 1993. On television he is known for Thomas Cromwell in The Tudors, Franklin Mott in True Blood, Warwick the Kingmaker in The White Queen and Sarek in Star Trek: Discovery, among roles in Orphan Black and Gotham. His films include Hilary and Jackie (1998), Elizabeth (1998), Titus (1999), The Count of Monte Cristo (2002) and Sunshine (1999), which brought him a Genie Award nomination. He has acted with the Royal Shakespeare Company and on Broadway, and shared a 2008 Drama Desk Award as part of The Homecoming ensemble.
