Jack Davenport
Biography
Jack Davenport is an English actor, born in London in 1973 to actor parents. He wrote to John Cleese, on his mother's advice, seeking work on Fierce Creatures. Cleese passed the letter to casting, and Davenport landed his first screen role as a trainee zookeeper. He then got an agent and auditioned for Miles Stewart in the BBC series This Life. He is known for the Pirates of the Caribbean series, in which he played James Norrington, including The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003), Dead Man's Chest (2006) and At World's End (2007). He also appeared in The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999) and in Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014). On television, he was in Coupling, Ultraviolet, FlashForward, Smash and The Morning Show, and had a leading role in the 2013 ITV drama Breathless. In 2018 he made his Broadway debut as the Earl of Warwick in Saint Joan.

Once Fierce Creatures wrapped, Davenport got himself an agent, and through that agent he auditioned for Miles Stewart, a role in the BBC drama This Life.

Davenport has done voice-over work, narrating audio versions of John Buchan's The Thirty-Nine Steps and recording parts in Anthony Burgess's A Clockwork Orange. He also voices British MasterCard ads.

Davenport first appeared on Broadway in 2018, taking the role of the Earl of Warwick in a revival of George Bernard Shaw's Saint Joan that starred Condola Rashad.
Beyond film
In Snow Patrol's video for the single Called Out in the Dark, posted to YouTube on 17 August 2011, Davenport took the role of the replacement singer, sharing the screen with Tara Summers and Gary Lightbody.
