About the name
When he joined college Equity, Walliams took the stage name David Walliams, since a member named David Williams was already registered.
Early training
Walliams met his future comedy partner Matt Lucas while performing with the National Youth Theatre during university holidays in 1990.
Getting ready for a role
Under his trainer's supervision, Walliams trained for nine months for the swim. Because the training had to coincide with the Little Britain Live tour, he trained for several hours each day before performing on stage in the evening.
Behind the camera
Walliams was going to work with filmmaker Edgar Wright on an animated film titled Shadows for DreamWorks Animation. Staff changes at DreamWorks animation left the film in limbo, so it was never made.
