Biography
Charlie Hunnam is an English actor who was spotted at 17 in a sports shop and given three episodes of the teen drama Byker Grove, before Russell T Davies cast him as a schoolboy in the Channel 4 series Queer as Folk. He moved to the United States, where he had a recurring role in Young Americans and a part in Undeclared, and he appeared in the films Abandon (2002), Nicholas Nickleby (2002) and Cold Mountain (2003). From 2008 to 2014 he played Jax Teller, the motorcycle club leader at the center of Sons of Anarchy, a role that brought him two Critics' Choice Television Award nominations. His later work includes Green Street (2005), Pacific Rim (2013), Crimson Peak (2015), The Lost City of Z, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017), The Gentlemen (2020) and Rebel Moon. In 2025 he played Ed Gein in Monster: The Ed Gein Story, earning Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.

Hunnam was set to play Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades of Grey adaptation, announced on 2 September 2013, but withdrew that October because of scheduling conflicts with Sons of Anarchy.
