Plot summary
Matt Buckner, an American journalism student, is thrown out of Harvard when cocaine is found in his room. The stash belongs to his roommate Jeremy, whose family is powerful, and Matt takes the money offered for the blame, then flies to London. There his sister Shannon lives with Steve, her husband, and their son Ben. Steve's younger brother Pete teaches school and leads the Green Street Elite, a football firm. Pete is unwilling to take an American to a match but relents, and at the pub The Abbey Matt meets the firm's members, among them Bovver, Pete's right-hand man, who dislikes him at once. Walking home from the game, Matt is set upon by three Birmingham City supporters and the firm fights them off.
