Carrie Snodgress

Carrie Snodgress was an American actress who trained at the Goodman School of Drama in Chicago before making her film debut in an uncredited part in Easy Rider (1969). She followed that with Rabbit, Run (1970), then won two Golden Globes and an Academy Award nomination for Diary of a Mad Housewife (1970). After a break from acting between 1970 and 1978, she returned in The Fury (1978). Her later films included Pale Rider (1985), Murphy's Law (1986), Blue Sky (1994), 8 Seconds (1994), and White Man's Burden (1995). She also made her off-Broadway debut in 1981 in A Coupla White Chicks Sitting Around Talking and appeared in stage productions at the Goodman Theatre and the Tiffany Theatre. She worked extensively in television, and her final film was Iron Jawed Angels (2004), in which she played the mother of Alice Paul.
