Trailer

Plot summary

Billy Maloney is released from a juvenile detention facility after an arrest for stealing a car and returns to live with his mother, Rosemary, in a trailer park in Gardena, California. His older brother Joe is a straight-A student and a strong runner with plans for an athletic scholarship, and Billy's return throws those plans into doubt. Billy is enrolled at a high school on the other side of town, where he hopes to start over, but an old rival gives him trouble and his friend Louie pushes him toward his old ways. Joe, who runs for his school's team, proposes that Billy join the track squad, an arrangement that puts the two brothers in competition with each other.
