Brinke Stevens
Biography
Brinke Stevens is an American actress known for horror, science fiction, and fantasy films. Born in San Diego, she studied biology and psychology before becoming a model and film extra in Los Angeles in 1980. Her first major film role was the slasher movie The Slumber Party Massacre (1982), and she went on to appear in more than 100 features, gaining a reputation as a scream queen. Her credits include Grandmother's House (1988), Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama (1988), Nightmare Sisters (1988), and Mommy (1995). She also co-wrote Teenage Exorcist (1991), worked as an onset decorator, and co-produced two documentaries. Stevens later reprised her character Linda Dawn Grant in Cheerleader Massacre (2003), appeared in the Head Case sequels, and was a subject of the 2011 documentary Screaming in High Heels: The Rise and Fall of the Scream Queen Era.

A change of course
Stevens was a marine biology student at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, but was barred from finishing her PhD after it was found she had used SeaWorld dolphins in her studies, breaking the institute's seal-only clearance.
A first
Stevens attended San Diego Comic-Con in 1974 and took first place in the first Masquerade Ball. After winning, she kept helping to run the masquerade at Comic-Con for years.
First role
While leaving a modeling agency, Stevens paused at an office door to view film posters. Jacob Bressler, the occupant, invited her in and requested her portfolio, then gave her a non-speaking, uncredited part in ...All the Marbles (1981).
Behind the camera
Stevens co-wrote several screenplays and co-produced two documentaries, and she co-wrote Teenage Exorcist, a comedy horror feature in which she also appeared.
