Arthur Franz
Biography
Arthur Franz was an American actor born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, who became interested in acting while in high school. He appeared on Broadway in Hope for a Harvest, Little Darling, The Moon Vine, and Command Decision before making his film debut in Jungle Patrol (1948). He took a rare leading role as a tormented killer in The Sniper (1952), and his most notable film part was in The Caine Mutiny (1954), where he played Lieutenant Junior Grade H. Paynter Jr. He also acted in Sands of Iwo Jima (1949) with John Wayne, Abbott and Costello Meet the Invisible Man (1951), Invaders From Mars (1953), The Unholy Wife (1957), Hellcats of the Navy (1957) with Ronald Reagan, and Monster on the Campus (1958). He appeared five times on Perry Mason, twice as a defendant and once as the murderer, and he portrayed Henry Ford in a 1955 television film. His last role was in That Championship Season (1982).
