Plot summary
Twenty-five years have passed since the Fillmore High team won the Pennsylvania state championship, and the coach and four of his former players keep up the reunion. George Sitkowski, mayor of Scranton, is fighting a fierce re-election campaign. James Daley is a school principal who is underpaid and unhappy, while his brother Tom has drifted into heavy drinking. Phil Romano, the richest of them, bends the law to get what he wants, and George badly needs his support. The coach still treats their adult troubles as though his boys were having a bad game. The evening's celebratory intent does not last.
