Plot summary
Physicist Dr. Lane leads the first expedition to Mars, carrying Professor Jackson, the spaceship designer Jim Barker, his assistant Carol Stafford and the journalist Steve Abbott, who is aboard to cover the mission. A meteor storm wrecks the landing gear and the radio, cutting the crew off from Earth, and they decide to land rather than turn back. Five humanoid Martians greet them at a structure on the surface, where Ikron, president of the planetary council, explains that his people learned Earth languages from broadcasts. The visitors are taken to an underground city whose life-support systems run on corium, a mineral the Martians process for water, air and energy. There they meet Tillamar, a former president now advising the council, and ask for help repairing their ship.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Flight To Mars (1951)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Flight to Mars was made as a low-budget quickie, with the whole film shot in just five days, an unusually fast turnaround for a 1951 science-fiction feature.
- Instead of building new ones, the production reused the interior flight-deck sets of Lippert Pictures' 1950 science-fiction feature Rocketship X-M, redressed, along with that film's interior props and sound effects.
