Plot summary
Fresh out of detective school, Lou Francis and Bud Alexander take their first case. Tommy Nelson, a middleweight boxer, has escaped from jail, where he was held on a charge of killing his manager. He brings the pair to meet Helen Gray, his fiancée, and her uncle, Dr. Philip Gray. Tommy asks the doctor for an injection of a serum that causes invisibility. He intends to use it to investigate the murder and clear his name. Dr. Gray turns him down, calling the serum unstable and recalling the fate of its discoverer, Jack Griffin. Police arrive, and Tommy gives himself the injection, vanishing from sight. While Bud and Lou hunt for Tommy, Detective Roberts questions Dr. Gray and Helen.
