Biography

Art Evans was an American actor whose screen and television credits stretched across five decades. He was born in Berkeley, California, and got his start in Los Angeles with Frank Silvera's Theater of Being, taking a lead in The Amen Corner when it moved to Broadway in 1965. His first credited part was Bubba on Chico and the Man in 1976, and that same year he portrayed Blind Lemon Jefferson in Leadbelly (1976). He became best known for playing Leslie Barnes, the Dulles airport engineer, in Die Hard 2 (1990), and he appeared in A Soldier's Story (1984), Fright Night (1985), Ruthless People (1986), School Daze (1988), Trespass (1992), CB4 (1993) and Metro (1997). His television work included Hill Street Blues, Monk, The X-Files and Family Matters, and he played Mr. Johnson, the father of Ron Johnson, on A Different World. He died in 2024.
