Plot summary

Paul White installs hi-fi systems in rich people's homes around Globe, Arizona, and places the speakers with the help of a noise he makes that rings in the hollows of his skull. Detective Charles Mendoza is working a series of murders of young women from the area's wealthy families, each bearing the same killer's signature, and the clues bring him to Paul. Paul lives with his wife Joan, whom he took from her then-boyfriend Mike DeSantos ten years earlier, and their daughter Danielle. While fitting equipment at Dr. Sutter's house close to the latest killing, Paul is approached by Mendoza, who asks whether he still hunts and about the tires on his van, matching a tread at the scene.
