Plot summary

Lisa Morgan is a special agent for the DEA. During a drug raid she sees what she takes to be the death of Manning, a close friend, and she leaves the agency to become a dance teacher. A secret assignment brings her back and she is shipped to a small remote island, where the mission concerns an unidentified spacecraft found orbiting Neptune in 2023. Two alien beings were taken from the vessel, one small and one much bigger and of a different species, and the small one governs the big one by telepathy. The crew gave the bigger creature the nickname Spike after its spiky look.
