Governor Chalk and his fixer, Thomas Elgin, want the killing pinned on Maubee, a petty crook who has been Quinn's closest friend since childhood, and Quinn doubts that Maubee did it. At home, Quinn's marriage to Lola is strained, and he seldom gets time with his son. Maubee keeps slipping past the police. Did you know?!Facts and trivia about The Mighty Quinn (1989)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The film was renamed The Mighty Quinn, after the Bob Dylan song, when a test audience mistook the title Finding Maubee and the credit "Robert Townsend as Maubee" to mean Townsend was the lead actor. Contractual obligations over his character name forced the change.
- In October 1971, producer Robert Rosenthal had Larry Cohen write an adaptation of A. H. Z. Carr's novel Finding Maubee, and actors Sammy Davis Jr. and Lou Gossett signed on for roles. That version of the project was shelved.
