Plot summary
Peter Rabbit lives in Britain's Lake District with Benjamin Bunny, his cousin, and his three sisters, Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail. The rabbits help themselves to vegetables in the garden of their neighbor Mr. McGregor, the man who ate their father, and visit Bea, the painter who has looked after them since their mother died. One day Peter goes back for the jacket he left in the garden, and McGregor catches him. McGregor dies of a heart attack, and the animals take over his empty manor. His great-nephew Thomas, a London toy store worker, learns that he has inherited the house. He arrives to prepare the property for sale and seals off the garden.
