Plot summary
Yogi Bear and Boo-Boo Bear are talking brown bears who live in Franklin City's Jellystone Park and swipe picnic baskets from campers. Ranger Smith, the head ranger, hears about every incident from his fellow ranger Jones and wishes Yogi would behave like an ordinary bear. With the city deep in debt from Mayor R. Brown's spending, the mayor and his chief of staff plot to fund the city budget and his campaign for governor by closing Jellystone and letting loggers onto the land. Smith and Jones, helped by Rachel Johnson, a nature documentary filmmaker who has come to the park to shoot a project, organize a centennial festival with fireworks to sell season passes and keep the park open.

- A 25-year-old art school graduate spent three months making a fake, much darker alternate ending for the film using only its trailers and promotional material; after the video went viral, Warner Bros. did not demand that he take it down but added a disclaimer saying nobody affiliated with the studio or the production was involved.
- Voicing Yogi Bear, Dan Aykroyd said he was trying to evoke the influences that shaped Daws Butler's original Yogi voice: "those old Lower East Side rhythms, the Catskills, Jersey, Upstate New York", the Yiddish language essentially being spoken in English, and the setup-delivery-punch timing sitcoms live on today.
- Art Carney's Ed Norton character on The Honeymooners was said to be Yogi's inspiration: Yogi's voice mannerisms broadly mimic Carney as Norton, and Carney in turn drew on Borscht Belt and vaudeville comedians.
