Jackson Gallagher

Biography

Jackson Gallagher is an Australian actor and photographer from Victoria. He started out on the Nine Network children's show The Saddle Club, playing Ashley Chewie Becker. After training at the Stella Adler Conservatory, he took the title part in the horror film Patrick (2013), and director Mark Hartley praised his performance for its inner menace. His wider recognition came from the soap Home and Away, where he played Josh Barrett for three years before leaving in 2016. Later television work included the comedy Please Like Me and the drama Playing for Keeps, while he had a main role in The Wheel, released as 2099: The Soldier Protocol (2019). He also appeared in Surviving Summer and Almost Paradise. Away from acting, he did stills photography for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

Early training
After he finished school, Gallagher moved to New York City, where he found jobs at a circus and then helping a photographer. He also trained in acting at the Stella Adler Conservatory.
First role
Gallagher's first film role came in the 2013 horror film Patrick, in which he played the title character but spent most of the shoot confined to a bed.
