Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Intolerable Cruelty (2003)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Intolerable Cruelty was the first script Joel and Ethan Coen ever took on as hired writers rather than their own idea, working from a concept by John Romano. Carrie Fisher was among the script doctors who had a go at the screenplay back in 1994.
- The Coens only came back to the film because their planned adaptation of James Dickey's novel To The White Sea collapsed, and then the start of shooting slipped to 20 June 2002 because George Clooney was not free.
- At $60 million, this divorce comedy was the costliest film Joel and Ethan Coen had directed up to that point, with most of it shot around Beverly Hills and a final week in Las Vegas.
