Plot summary
Once known for his ease on the job, Charlie Mayeaux now suffers anxiety and stomach trouble after a bust went wrong. His bosses refuse his requests to retire or leave the case, since so much time has gone into building his cover, so he flies to New York City to resume work. On the plane he meets Dr. Jeff Bleckner, a psychiatrist, and joins the group therapy session Bleckner recommends. His stomach trouble brings him to Judy Tipp, who introduces him to alternative remedies. His assignment is a deal involving Fidel Vaillar, the son of an important Colombian druglord, Vaillar's bodyguard Estuvio Clavo, Fulvio Nesstra of the Italian mob in New York, and a young Wall Street type named Jason Cane.
