Irwin Keyes
Biography
Irwin Keyes, an American actor and comedian, was best known for playing Hugo, the dim witted bodyguard on the sitcom The Jeffersons. Born in New York in 1952, he grew up in Amityville, New York. His first stage role came in college, in a production of Maxim Gorky's The Lower Depths. He went on to a long screen career, often playing hefty, good natured toughs, thuggish henchmen, and intimidating authority figures, in movies that ranged across horror, comedy, thrillers, science fiction, and action. He turned up as a guest on numerous television series, appeared in commercials and music videos, and provided voices for video games. He was still working as an actor when he died in 2015.
