Plot summary
Peaches is engaged to a mammoth named Julian, and her father Manny dislikes the match, finding Julian annoying and unable to protect her. Peaches wants to roam the world on her honeymoon, which Manny and Ellie oppose. Diego and Shira long for children but fear other youngsters will stay away from a saber-toothed cub, and Sid is alone again after Francine ends their relationship. On Manny and Ellie's anniversary, asteroids strike and the herd takes cover in a cave. Buck arrives from an underground lost world with a stone pillar that records two past extinctions and warns of another. Its engravings point to a nearby volcano as the place the asteroids always strike, and the herd sets out to find a way to stop the next one. A trio of flying dromaeosaurs overhears and sets out to stop them.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Ice Age: Collision Course (2016)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The "Figaro's Aria" sequence, in which Buck saves an egg from a trio of dromaeosaurs, was one continuous uninterrupted shot running around two minutes, and the Blue Sky Studios team could only produce three or four seconds of footage a week.
- Jesse Tyler Ferguson was offered the role of Shangri Llama after the producers saw his performance in Modern Family, his first time working in an animated film, and he blew out his voice on the first day of the recording session because he did a lot of yelling.
- Produced on a budget of $105 million, the film became the lowest-grossing film of the franchise as well as Blue Sky's lowest-grossing film, a result attributed to franchise fatigue, poor marketing and competition from The Secret Life of Pets.
- The film score was composed by John Debney, replacing John Powell due to his unavailability, although some of Powell's themes from prior films were used along with David Newman's themes from the first film.
